Agar Plates

Agar plates are widely used in the mushroom cultivation community for numerous amounts of reasons. Growing mycelium for study purposes, testing cultures for contamination and keeping genes stored for a fair amount of time before needing to do transfers. You can also start what we call a “library” with agar plates. Collect all the genetics your heart desires by collecting them on agar plates to build your genetic inventory !

All of our agar plates are poured in front of a laminar flow hood. We wrap our plates with grafting tape to seal the agar petri dish together, protecting against any possible contamination entering into the plate.  After the plates are poured and sealed, the agar plates will sit in a clean room for up to a week to make sure no possible contamination is visible prior to shipping. We saran wrap our plates in stacks of 10 to provide extra cushion surrounding the plates and to hold the plates together during shipment. Lastly we vacuum seal the plates together making sure it is properly packed for shipment. WARNING – Plates do throw out some serious rhizomorphic ropes 😉
